Welcome to the Becoming a Data Scientist blog! This blog is meant to explore the many paths to becoming a practitioner in data science, a discipline that is literally changing the world. The blog will be about building skill sets, learning about the field, applying data science in different domains, finding careers in data science, and critically thinking about what data science is and where the field is going. My hope is that this can be a resource both for newcomers to the field, looking to build a career in data science, and also for those of us who have been practitioners of aspects of what we now call data science for a while.
The blog is run by David Wild, Program Director of the Data Science Program at Indiana University, and CEO of Data2Discovery Inc, a Data Science company. I hope to draw some other people in to do guest posts too!
